Mini Soccer Goals Guide

Scoring goals is at the core of most sporting games. When playing Soccer, there are many different goals that, aside from being a scoring area, serve different purposes. There are several factors that determine the purpose of goals and which is suitable for your needs.

The main factors to consider when looking at goals are:

  • Size
  • Material
  • Shape
  • Setup and Storage

Goal sizes

As players increase in age ball and goal size will get bigger. Our wide range of goals vary from pop up sizes for mini games and passing accuracy to large goals designed for training and game play. Our size guide can help you find the right size goal for your field. For junior age groups see the table below for a recommended goal size.

Age Group Goal Size
U6 & U7 2m x 1m
U8 & U9 3m x 2m
U10 & U11 5m x 2m

Material: plastic or metal goals?

Plastic PVC goals are a lightweight option that can be easily setup on grass fields or indoor courts. Our range of PVC goals are portable and their design makes for easy storage options. The Samba Match Goals have a thicker tube diameter to give more realistic sized posts and bars for game play. These are a great option for schools or clubs that want the flexibility of portable goals.

Steel goals have great performance and durability. The strong material gives these goals a more firm frame. Steel goals come in rigid frames like the Delta Sports Goals and are great for permanent setup or for more portable options the Folding Goal folds flat for easy storage.

Goal shapes

Box Shape Goals

Box shape or D shaped goals are more professional as they provide depth inside the goal. This area creates room inside the goal to prevent players tangling in the net, while allowing the goalkeeper more room. Box goals have the net looped over the cross bar to allow for the most space as possible inside.

Triangle Goals

Triangle shape goals have less depth inside which limits space and can tangle up players. Triangular goals are usually more portable as with our Folding Soccer Goal they simply fold flat and are easy to store. These goals are suitable for junior games or training aids that do not require goalies.

Pop Up Goals

Pop-up Goals are great for mini games in the park, backyard or school ground. These goals are great for games in small areas and create playing fields in any space. In addition to juniors, pop up goals are perfect for warm up and accuracy drills for players of all ages. Our pop up goals are available in rectangular or semi-circle shape.

Setup and Storage

The two setup mechanisms dependent on goal are locking pins or connectors.

Locking Pins

Locking pins provide a quick and easy setup of goals with click in pins that keep everything in place. This quick setup makes goals easy to de-assemble when finished with goals and is recommended if goals may need to be packed up between training or seasons.

Connectors

Connectors are lock in points for posts and bars of the goal to be connected. This setup is more permanent and are recommended for goals that do not need to be packed up or stored flat.
