HART Gym and interlocking mats have long been certified to meet critical fall height standards for safety reassurance in playgrounds, early childhood centres and gymnasiums. Recently these mats have undergone re-testing along with active mats, quick release mats and landing mats. Now more of our foam mats than ever are certified to keep your play areas safe!
In order to meet the standards set out in AS/NZS 4422:2016, the mats are independently tested against rigorous criteria. Using an aluminium alloy head-form to drop on mats, impact results are measured to calculate results such as Head Injury Criterion (HIC), the maximum deceleration produced (G-max) and the impact duration.
During testing, accelerometers calculate the critical fall height of a surface, which can be measured to determine what height someone can safely land on mat without causing critical damage to the user.
This surface testing gives a good indication of the impact absorbing properties of any surface. With our locally sourced high quality foam and Australian made mats we achieved high results during testing. These mats were tested to support recreational and childcare centres complying with Australian safety standards. All materials in playgrounds underneath equipment that has a height of 500mm or higher must conform to AS/NZS 4422:2016. Materials must have critical height values and these certifications will ensure effective impact absorption of falls.
