Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a UFO? NO! It’s YOU.FO! In this article, we’ll introduce you to the new game that’s taking the world by storm. YOU.FO is a unique game that combines frisbee and sof-crosse and provides hours of endless fun & great exercise.
There’s no better way to explain the game of YOU.FO than hearing it straight from the team who created it.
“YOU.FO is a versatile sports and leisure game, based on throwing and catching an aerodynamic ring with specially designed sticks.” -
YOU.FO
YOU.FO is:
- Mixed-gendered
- Self-regulated
- Non-contact social distanced sport
- Easy & fun to play
WHERE TO PLAY?
The best thing about YOU.FO is that it can be played almost anywhere! Play a casual game with friends and family at the local park or beach or step it up a notch and play competitively in a team on a sporting field or a large indoor area.
HOW TO PLAY?
YOU.FO is a great game to play with friends and family or in a team environment - perfect for schools! It can be played 3 against 3, 4 against 4, or 5 against 5. Just like playing a game of hockey, rugby or soccer, there are two scoring zones on each side of the playing field. To begin, teams start off in their own scoring zone with their YOU.FO sticks in hand and run towards the centre of the field to meet the opposition and to try to claim the ring first.
Passing and catching the ring can only be achieved by using the YOU.FO stick. Like in netball, once the ring is on your stick, you must not run with it. You must pivot and throw the ring to another teammate before running again.
HOW DO YOU SCORE?
To gain points, you must successfully catch the ring with your stick in your opponents scoring zone.
HOW DO YOU DEFEND?
There are three different ways to defend the opposition from scoring and moving forward into your scoring zone.
- Intercepting the ring in the air
- Claim the ring should the ring fall on the ground. The first player who puts the red tip of their stick into the ring claims the possession of the ring.
- Blocking the attacker by standing a stick length distance away in order to ensure safety for all players and remain non-contact.
What happens if two players stick their sticks in the ring at the same time?
A classic rock-off (paper, scissors, rock) game between the two opponents determines who claims possession of the ring.
WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS?
- Increased mental acuity
- Full body strengthening workout
- Socialisation
- Improve your cardiovascular health
Now that you know how to play the game, it’s time to get your YOU.FO kit and gather your mates around for a game!
